Cuba was one of the greatest importers of American cars in the first half of the 20th Century, and by 1955 they numbered over one hundred and fifty five thousand. In January 1959 Fidel Castro’s victorious revolutionary army took control of Cuba. Over the next eighteen months, his government’s actions would see an end to the fabulous era of American cars.
